About this item
A pair of hand-painted ceramic wall plates from Transylvania dating to the 1950s–60s.
The two plates are not identical, which is exactly why they sit so well together. They share the same warm cream ground and the same lively palette of greens, blues and terracotta tones, while each keeps its own floral rhythm and character.
Both pieces show clear signs of age: wear to the glaze, soft losses, and time-worn surfaces that have become part of their beauty. Rather than taking anything away, this weathering gives the pair a richer presence and a quieter depth that newer pieces rarely have.
The reverse of each plate has pierced hanging holes, confirming they were made as decorative wall pieces.
