Medusa / Gorgon Altar Decor / Laser Engraved Medusa Art Piece

Medusa, the enigmatic Gorgon of Greek mythology, is considered to be one of the most widely known symbols of the ancient world as tales of her mythology and her image were immortalized through the stories of her legends and artists capturing her iconography in various compositions. As one of the three gorgon sisters, she is famously known for her hair of living snakes and her petrifying gaze that turned people into stone.

She was transformed into a monstrous creature with snakes for hair by the Greek Goddess Athena who sought to punish Medusa for desecrating her sacred temple - a transgression she unwilling committed with Poseidon.

In Greek Mythology, Medusa is a chthonic spirit who (in modern times) has moved beyond her mythological role as a monster and is revered as a symbol of survivor empowerment, radical transformation, and protective rage. Seen as more of divine spirit granted with deity status her being has become more in line with that of a goddesses than that of a monster - with the power of transformation, vengeance, and protection. Use her image to ward off evil or injustice as well as embracing your "shadow self" and any personal transformation you might be undergoing. She is also revered as a guardian against evil and a figure who turns trauma into immense strength.

Samhain is an ancient Celtic pagan festival that celebrates the final harvest of the season and marks the beginning of winter. At this time, as we enter into the darker half of the year, the boundary between the physical world and the spirit world is at it's thinnest which allows spirits of the dead and otherworldly beings (such as the fae) to enter into the realm of the living.

Featuring a log slice engraved with the Gorgon Medusa - perfect to use as an altar decoration for Samhain or to use as a gift for Samhain or Halloween.
