St. Agatha is the Patron saint of nurses, nannies and is invoked for diseases of the breast and victims of sexual assault.

St. Agatha was born in Sicily to a wealthy Christian family. A young beautiful woman, she refused the advances of the roman consul and further enraged him by not making offerings to the gods. As punishment the consul ordered her to a brothel where she miraculously kept pure. Imprisonment followed, and she was subsequently tortured having her breasts mutilated. Poor girl couldn't catch a break, because after St. Peter came during the night and healed her wounds, she was then subjected to being rolled over hot coals. It is said that Mt. Edna began erupting during her torture. Her feast day is February 5.

My original illustration, drawn first in pen, digitally colored, printed on 80 lb. stock, trimmed, and finally laminated, thus rendering the card bulletproof. Okay not really, but it is quite sturdy.

Thanks for looking!
