This unusual but classic vintage Mexican bracelet was hand wrought in Mexico City by the maestros at Plateria Far Fan, one of a few important Mexico City silver houses that designed & created jewelry during the Mexican Silver Renaissance in the mid 20th century. This bracelet was made sometime after 1948. The sophisticated, embossed Mayan/Aztec motif, is reminiscent of the early works of William Spratling & Hector Aguilar. The quality of construction is reflective of the fine work coming from Mexico at this time. This bracelet consists of 7 silver panels joined by well constructed hinges, which enhance the high quality of this fine piece. On one side of the bracelet, the panels have scalloped edges that beautifully compliment the chased etchings of the silver. On the other side, the silver metal was molded to flow gently with gracefully embossed lines of on that side of the panel. Weighing in at a hefty 54 grams, this is a very substantial piece of sterling! This is a classic design that looks new & old at the same time. The beautiful patina adds to the vintage appeal. A fine addition to the cache of any silver lover & a well signed piece that’s a must for all collectors of Mexican joyeria!
