Description

PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS FOR THIS SLAB ROLLER

This heavy duty table top Clay Slab Roller has an all steel frame and drive system with a moving table measuring 19 1/2" by 32". The usable work surface (and therefore the largest slab you could make) is about 17" by 25". It has independent gap adjusters covering a thickness range of 0 to over 1 inch, so no shims are required. Four complete turns on the adjusters produce about 1/4" thick slab of clay. Since the adjusters are independent you have the ability to make wedge shape slabs, if you like. This feature also makes it possible to emboss the clay surface right on the machine. This tabletop model is portable (overall dimensions 32"L x 24"W x 5.5"H not including the handle, and weighs about 35 lbs). It fits on a table as small as a 24"x 20" and can be easily stored on its side (using a small block of wood from the crating material) maximizing studio space. It includes adjuster scale decals which are only intended to help as reference points and are not a specific measurement.

Following is a link to a YouTube video showing the slab roller in operation (NOTE: The gap adjusters are knobs, not handles). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPEAvTH5ICo&feature=youtu.be

My wife, a potter, was making slabs with a rolling pin. After watching her struggle with this archaic method, I decided to design and build her one for Christmas in 2015. The design criteria were based on her experience with studio slab rollers, space constraints in her studio and my engineering background. The design we settled on is based on her experience with typical art studio slab rollers and my engineering background. The result is a heavy duty tabletop, slab roller with independent gap adjusters (no shims). My wife loved it so much that we decided to manufacture and sell them from our home shop in Southwest Florida, USA. Since then, we have sold over 350 slab rollers.
The $58.50 shipping price is for the lower 48 US states only. Please contact me for shipping to AK, HI or Puerto Rico.

We also sell Synchronized Adjuster Kit which will allow you to adjust both jack screws with one knob. The kit is available at the link below if you buy it later, or choose the with sync kit option when purchasing your slab roller.

To see how the Slab Roller works with the Synchronized Adjuster Kit, you can watch this video (although the video is of the Dough Sheeter with the kit). NOTE: you will receive 1 lever handle, and will no longer be able to make a wedge shaped slab unless you detach the sync kit.

The slab roller is shipped via FedEx. Packaged it weighs about 36 lbs.

Benefits of the JT Designs Slab Roller:

- Heavy-duty design - all steel frame

- Portable - at 32 pounds it can be easily transported and it can be stored on its side saving precious studio space.

- Tabletop size - fits on a 20 x 24 table

- Adjustable gaps - makes it possible to emboss the clay surface right on the machine (unlike the shim type models). Can also produce wedge shaped profiles.

We stand behind the excellence of our products and strive for 100% customer satisfaction. If you have any issues or questions about your purchase, please contact us.

For full credit on a return (the cost of the slab roller only, shipping both ways is the responsibility of the buyer), the slab roller must be returned in its original container with all packing materials, and in resalable condition. The cost of materials missing or that need to be replaced due to their condition, will be deducted from the credit issued.

WOW. GOOD BYE Rolling Pin!!!!!! I shopped a lot and couldn't be happier with this purchase. It's a bargain. It shipped out the day I ordered and arrived 4 business days later. It was really well-packaged and it took longer to unbox the machine than put it together. It was a really easy set-up that took 10 minutes at the most. It's very solid and well-built. Didn't really have time to be doing any clay work today but I, of course, had to give it a try and my studio life just changed dramatically. I whipped out two beautiful slabs in just a few minutes. It's REALLY easy to crank and the rolling action feels very smooth. There is a dot on each handle that makes it easy to keep track of the height adjustment on each side by counting how many turns to adjust to the height wanted.

This is my most favorite Etsy purchase ever. It is the best priced slab roller I could find, and it works like an absolute dream. My husband set it up for me with no cussing, so it must have been intuitive to set up. Shipping was super speedy, too. I've already made a huge batch of perfect heart pendants. I'm so grateful this was available. <3

Thank you so much for my new slab roller! It is a great size and works even better than expected. The instructions for putting it together were clear and easy to follow and I had no problem figuring out slab size. It does only come with one piece of canvas so went and bought a few more pieces because it's best to have a piece on the top and bottom when rolling, plus I use different clay bodies and wanted to have different canvas for each. Thanks again, I'm so happy with my purchase!
