Description

Point One Acres is a small farm located in serene Anderson Valley, famous for incredible Pinot Noir, majestic redwoods, and quaint charm. Our lavender is grown in the warm California sunshine, and cooled by the Pacific Ocean's breezes caressing our ridgetop. The lavender we grow is Lavandula x intermedia ‘Grosso’ (also known as Lavandin), a French variety, renowned for its hardiness, deep aroma, stunning large and deep blue-violet flower heads, and quality of essential oil. It is the most common variety grown for the perfume and cosmetics industries due to its wonderful oil. Our large plants, when in bloom, can measure more than 5 feet across! Grosso is known for having a unique camphor-like backnote, overlaid with the lovely sweet floral characteristics you expect from lavender.

Our lavender products are created by hand, with love and attention to detail! We do not use any chemicals or pesticides to treat our plants. The bees are our friends and we want them here on our property! In fact, we dedicate several plants as "just" for the bees, and do not harvest from those plants. The water source for our drip irrigation comes from our well, and is filtered prior to meeting the lavender plants, making our lavender ideal for culinary pursuits!

Each morning, we visit the lavender field and walk among the happy bees at work, and choose the buds, flowers, or stems for the day's project. Lynn was taught how to distill plants and herbs by our town's herbalist and herbal healer, and she learned to make a lovely, high-quality product. For hydrosol, our lavender flowers are gently clipped by hand, and brought to distillation within 15 minutes for optimum freshness. The flowers are distilled in small batches using steam, and yield hydrosol of lovely quality, incredible aroma, and wonderful properties for use in and around your home.

Suggestions for use: room freshener, smudge spray, linen refresher, pillow spray before sleep, facial toner, bath additive, car freshener, lingerie spray, bug bite relief, the I-don't-have-time-to-shower-but-need-to-smell-better spray, pet bed freshener, pet relaxer, sunburn soother, spray before meditation or yoga, potpourri or sachet refresher - just about anything!

Our hydrosols contain only two ingredients: lavender flowers and water. Because we do not separate the essential oil away, our hydrosol is not a by-product of essential oil production - the oils are included in each bottle! We believe this makes for an incredibly aromatic and wonderful product! The hydrosol is aged for 2 weeks minimum prior to bottling, to allow the aromatic components to develop and become harmonized. We bottle right here at the farm, using brushed aluminum bottles to protect the product from light and UV rays. Your hydrosol should be kept in a cool, dark place and used within 6 months. You may refrigerate if you wish.
