Without any question, it is one of the most powerful and influential books known to humankind. The book of Enoch is declared "apocryphal," But what is the Apocrypha? The very etymology of the term shows that it is a secret book. This book was omitted from the Bible and disappeared for centuries until it was rediscovered in 1773. The book's first part is about “The Watchers,” a group of “angels” sent to Earth to watch over humans. These angels taught humans writing, weaponry, reading, sorcery, cosmetics, and meteorology. Within the pages of this book, you will find passages on other realms, the creator, astrology, The Secret Doctrine, and so much more. This is one of the finest condition printings I have ever seen; it looks like it's been in a time capsule for decades: a mysterious, powerful, and fascinating book. The Apocrypha books are a group of hidden books written between 400 B.C. and the time of Christ. I would snag this one before it's gone...

The Apocryphal Book of Enoch the Prophet was first discovered in Abyssinia in 1773 by a Scottish explorer named James Bruce. In 1821, The Book of Enoch was translated by Richard Laurence and published in several successive editions. One of the book's main influences is its explanation of how evil enters the world with the arrival of the "fallen angels." Enoch acts as a scribe, writing up a petition on behalf of these fallen angels, or fallen ones, to be given to a higher power for ultimate judgment. Christianity adopted some ideas from Enoch, including the Final Judgment, the concept of demons, the origins of evil and the fallen angels, and the coming of a Messiah and, ultimately, a Messianic kingdom. The Book of Enoch was ultimately removed from the Bible and banned by the early church. Copies of it were found to have survived in Ethiopia and fragments in Greece and Italy. Like the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hammadi Library, the Book of Enoch, translated from the original Ethiopian Coptic script, is a rare resource that was suppressed by the early church and thought destroyed.

THE BOOK OF ENOCH.
CHAP. I.
"1. THE word of the blessing of Enoch, how he blessed the elect and the righteous, who were to exist in the time of trouble, rejecting all the wicked and ungodly. Enoch, a righteous man who was with God, answered and spoke, while his eyes were open, and while he saw a holy vision in the heavens.
This the angels showed me.
2. From them I heard all things, and understood what I saw; that which will not take place in this generation, but in a generation which is to succeed at a distant period, on account of the elect.
3. Upon their account, I spoke and conversed with him, who will go forth from his habitation, the Holy and Mighty One, the God of the world:
4. Who will hereafter tread upon Mount Sinai; appear with his hosts; and be manifested in the strength of his power from heaven.
5. All shall be afraid, and the Watchers be terrified.
6. Great fear and trembling shall seize them, even to the ends of the earth. The lofty mountains shall be troubled, and the exalted hills depressed, melting like a honeycomb in the flame.
The earth shall be immersed, and all things which are in it perish; while judgment shall come upon all, even upon all the righteous:
7. But to them shall he give peace: he shall preserve the elect, and towards them exercise clemency.
8. Then shall all belong to God; be happy and blessed; and the splendor of the Godhead shall illuminate them.
CHAP. II.
Behold, he comes with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon them, and destroy the wicked, and reprove all the carnal for everything which the sinful and ungodly have done, and committed against him."

"And now to the Watchers, who have sent thee to pray for them, who in the beginning were in heaven."

The overall condition of this book is very good, especially considering it is nearing 50 years old. It has some very light shelf wear and a touch of natural age toning to the pages. For a book of this age, it has been exceptionally well-kept.

"Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands, of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him." Modern research dates the Epistle of Jude to the second century, but as orthodox theologians accept its contents as the inspired utterance of an Apostle, let us diligently search the Hebrew Scriptures for this important forecast of the second Advent of the Messiah. In vain, we turn over the pages of the sacred Canon; not even in the Apocrypha can we trace one line from the pen of the marvelous being to whom uninterrupted immortality is assigned by apostolic interpretation of Genesis v. 24. Were the prophecies of Enoch, therefore, accepted as a Divine revelation on that momentous day when Jesus explained the Scriptures, after his resurrection, to Jude and his apostolic brethren; and have we moderns betrayed our trust by excluding an inspired record from the Bible?
