Alpaca, softly worked, pink threads swaying loose at the ends.

WHAT IT IS

A crochet scarf worked entirely by hand from a blend led by alpaca. Decorative pink elements drape from the ends and move with the body. It measures 25 cm (9.8 in) wide and 175 cm (68.9 in) long - long enough to wrap and still hang loose past the waist. It is built for cool spring days, autumn weather, and mild winters.

WHAT GOES INTO IT

Eleven to fourteen hours, and almost none of that is the yarn.
Every row is worked by hand with a hook across 175 cm, then each end gets its pink drops set by hand so they hang even, not tied on after the fact.
Seventy percent of this is alpaca. Silk, wool, and mohair round out the rest; polyamide and polyester are there to hold the stitch, nothing more.
One scarf, one dye lot - there is no second run to spread those hours across.

HOW IT FEELS

Alpaca fibre lacks the microscopic scales sheep wool carries, and holds a fraction of the lanolin. It sits against skin without the itch wool alone can bring.
Silk runs through the blend too, adding a light sheen and a smoother pass wherever it surfaces.
A small synthetic share sits alongside the natural fibres, mostly there to hold the stitch.
Expect a soft, substantial hand with real drape, more wrap than knit.

I print the full split, polyamide and polyester included, because a small share is still a real share, not something to round away.

I do not restock and I do not repeat a colourway - partly by choice, partly because the yarn came from one dye lot and that lot is finished.
If you want something close, message me and we can talk about a commission. It will not be this one.

CARE

Hand wash only, cool water, a wool detergent. No enzymes, no bleach, no softener.
Do not wring. Press the water out against the side of the basin, roll it in a towel, press again.
Dry flat, out of sun. Never hang it wet - the weight of the water pulls it long and it does not come back.
Alpaca rarely needs washing. Airing it overnight resets it.
Store folded, never on a hanger.
