WHAT IT IS

A chunky crochet statement scarf worked from an alpaca, merino and wool blend with a touch of silk. Its main yarn is naturally felted into a dense, cloud-like surface where the individual stitches disappear. Decorative green fringe elements drape from the ends and move with the body. It measures 23 cm (9.1 in) wide and 190 cm (74.8 in) long, excluding the decorative hanging elements.

WHAT GOES INTO IT

Eleven to fourteen hours, and only some of that is the crochet.
The rest is felting - passing the surface by hand, again and again, until it turns dense and even across all 190 cm, without matting into something stiff.
Sixty percent of this is alpaca; merino, wool, silk and six percent polyester make up the rest.
One dye lot, one scarf - there is no second run to spread those hours across.

HOW IT FEELS

Alpaca fiber lacks the microscopic scales sheep wool carries, and holds a fraction of the lanolin. It does not behave against skin the way wool alone would.
This piece leans textured rather than plush on purpose. The yarn is felted into a dense surface, and the merino and wool in the blend keep some grip and structure.
Expect a warm, substantial hand rather than a silky one.
If your skin reacts to wool, wear it over a collar or scarf lining for the first few wears.

- 20% merino wool
- 10% wool
- 6% polyester
- 4% silk

I print the full split, polyester included, because six percent is still real and rounding it away would not be honest.

I do not restock and I do not repeat a colourway - partly by choice, partly because the yarn came from one dye lot and that lot is finished.

CARE

Hand wash only, cool water, a wool detergent. No enzymes, no bleach, no softener.
Do not wring. Press the water out against the side of the basin, roll it in a towel, press again.
Dry flat, out of sun. Never hang it wet - the weight of the water pulls it long and it does not come back.
Alpaca rarely needs washing. Airing it overnight resets it.
Store folded, never on a hanger.

Hand-made does not mean final sale. I would rather it came back than sat in a drawer.
