Ivory Merino Wool Blend Blanket Scarf, 220cm

Fluff and mohair cloud yarn, brushed into a soft white halo.

WHAT IT IS

This hand-crocheted scarf is worked in a fluffy blend of polyamide, merino wool, mohair and silk, with a small share of polyester holding the stitches together. It runs a full 220 cm (86.6 in) long and 20 cm (7.9 in) wide, long enough to wrap and knot rather than lie flat. The polyamide is what gives it that soft, cloud-like halo; the merino and mohair underneath do the actual warming.

WHAT GOES INTO IT

Eleven to fourteen hours, and most of that goes into holding the halo even across all 220 centimetres - the longest piece in the shop.
Five yarns are joined and carried together, row by row, start to finish; the tension cannot slip once in that distance without the halo showing it.
Fifty-five percent of this scarf is polyamide. I am not pricing it as if it were merino.
One length, one dye lot, one combination of five yarns - there is no second run to spread those hours across.

HOW IT FEELS

The fluff comes from the polyamide, which is what gives it that brushed, cloud-like halo rather than a coarse synthetic feel.
Underneath, the merino wool carries the actual warmth, with mohair adding a fine halo of its own and a thread of silk for a faint sheen.
It sits light around the neck rather than heavy, closer to a soft wrap than a dense winter knit.
Shake it out after wearing and the loft settles back into place.

- 55% polyamide
- 30% merino wool
- 10% mohair
- 3% silk
- 2% polyester

I print the full split, polyamide majority and all. More than half of this scarf is synthetic, and you should know that before the merino and mohair get the credit.

I do not restock and I do not repeat a colourway - partly by choice, partly because the yarn came from one dye lot and that lot is finished.
If you want something close, message me and we can talk about a commission. It will not be this one.

CARE

Hand wash only, lukewarm, pH-neutral wool detergent.
Squeeze gently, like kneading dough. Do not wring, twist or pull.
Dry flat on a towel, away from sun and radiators.
Brushed yarn sheds a little for the first week or two. That is the halo settling, not a fault. Shake it out and it stops.
If small bobbles appear where it rubs, lift them with a knitwear comb - never a razor.
Store folded and clean. Moths go for skin oils, not for the fibre, so put it away washed. Cedar in the drawer, not mothballs.
