Amazon Frogbit: Amazon Frogbit is a free-floating aquatic plant native to Central and South America. In the wild, it covers the surface of slow-moving rivers, ponds, and lakes throughout the Amazon basin. The plant consists of rosettes of round, bright green leaves (0.5–2 inches across) connected by stolons, with roots extending 6–12+ inches below the surface.

It's often compared to Dwarf Water Lettuce and Duckweed, but Frogbit is the sweet spot: larger and more attractive than Duckweed, easier to manage than Water Lettuce, and more effective at nutrient absorption than either.

ARRIVAL: Plants may turn partly yellow/brown during shipping and roots may be damaged. That is OK—this plant is extremely resilient and will begin multiplying within several days of being placed in your tank. What you are buying should be viewed as a "seed" from which you will eventually get many.

SHIPPING: Your package usually will go out within 1-2 business days of your order. But, as these are living plants, we cannot ship if the temperature is too high. If the forecasted temperature in PA or your address is above 100° F or under 38° F in the coming days, we may hold your order to ship it out when the temperature returns to a safe level. Note that this can cause the shipping time to be delayed past Etsy's estimate, but is necessary to ensure you receive good quality plants.

The plants we sell are home-grown in indoor aquariums with fish, shrimp, and other aquatic life. Because our plants are not grown in sterile laboratory conditions, they may occasionally carry snails, snail eggs, algae, detritus worms, other harmless aquatic organisms, or naturally occurring microorganisms associated with aquatic environments. We inspect and rinse plants before shipping, but we cannot guarantee that plants will be completely free of these naturally occurring hitchhikers.

How To Clean Your Plants With 'Reverse Respiration'
Common Seltzer Water.

Dark area for 12 hours.

You’ll need as much seltzer as is required to fully submerge the plants you are cleaning. It makes the plants quite buoyant such that you’ll need to weigh them down to keep them submerged.

1-Rinse the plants. Fully submerge the plants in freshly opened seltzer water.
2-Cover the top with a towel or other loose-fitting lid (should not be airtight) and place in the dark for 12 hours.
3-After 12 hours, remove the plants and soak in plain water, preferably aerated for 30 minutes or more. Usually, tank water is sufficiently oxygenated such that you may skip this step.
4-Rinse to remove remnants of pests or dead algae.
5-Place in the tank.
