Description

LEDGER HORSE -

Between the years of 1875 and 1878 a large number of Kiowa, Arapaho, Caddo, Cheyenne, and Comanche warriors were imprisoned in Fort Marion in Florida for their participation in the Red River Wars. These prisoners were given materials: pencil, ink, and watercolors on old ledger and account books then encouraged to draw by their military captors. Twenty-six of these prisoners, mostly Cheyenne and Kiowa produced hundreds of drawings and a number of books depicting the life as warriors before capture. This style of drawings has come to be referred to as Ledger Drawings.

These pieces were inspired by Native American culture but are not crafted by Native Americans.

The Ledger Horse measures approximately 20 inches long by 11 1/2 inches tall. We custom cut to any size you wish, please contact us for pricing on larger items. Typically cut from 12 gauge hot rolled steel and then painted with automotive grade primer & paints and finished with an automotive grade clear coat. Paints are UV protected.
Each Ledger Horse is hand-painted and will have its own unique color scheme, therefore, each will be different. Some are mounted on a polished steel stand while others are mounted on wooden base.

Unless requested by the Customer BMMA does not use clip art or any purchased designs. As with most of our pieces, this is an original Copyrighted© BMMA in-house design. Our pieces are heirloom quality and will be handed down for generation

Great product! I ordered two Fox signs and love them both. Solid construction and the paint color and design is amazing. I discussed what I wanted with them and was easily able to customize both of them. Excellent, prompt communication from start to finish.

FAQs

Absolutely, actually the vast majority of our work has been custom work. We love a challenge. If you imagine it, BMMA can design and build it. Seriously, there is no job to small or too large. Makes no difference where you happen to be, we can work with you. With today's computers and internet even if you happen to be thousands of mile away we can work as closely with you as if you were next door.

From the initial meeting, conversation or E-mail we will work closely with you on your custom design. Each custom order is treated as if yours is the most important job in the shop. On the larger jobs one of us will be designated as the project leader and will be your contact person.
We are located Montrose Colorado, in the foothills of the beautiful San Juan Mountains. The gateway to "Indian Country." If you happen to live in the area or are planning on visiting or passing through please take the time to come by and visit our gift shop. We love meeting our Customers. You may even be able to find a cup of coffee or a cold soda pop.

We are always working on something new, so we invite you to come by, see what we happen to be up to and visit our operation. We are easy to find, located at 3000 Aerotech Place. Just look for Old Glory flying proudly.
Depends we use whatever is best for the design, the effect we want, and the environment in which the piece will be displayed or used. If a piece is to be displayed or used indoors we prefer using acrylics or alcohol inks with a good quality sealer. If the piece is to be displayed outdoors then we prefer using automotive grade paints. These have been proven to be very durable paints. When you think about it an automobile finish is subjected to about as harsh environment as you can imagine. Plus they provide an endless array of colors. There is a limitless choice of finishes that we can choose from. This may be an epoxy finish, powder coat, polished metal, and we may use chemicals to achieve a desired look or finish
