Description

Vintage American Optical Eyeglasses AO 1/10 12K GF Gold Filled Catseye Frame Eye Glasses with detailed etched work, lens cloth, doctor appointment card, and case, are in excellent vintage condition. I believe these are magnified lenses with unknown strength and should be for collectible use only or potentially replace the lenses for use. The glasses could use a good cleaning. The case says, "Drs. R. J. & T. M. Sandee, Waukegan".

Most of the appointment card can be fairly easily read with the exception of a few areas, the last two digits of the year are the most challenging, it looks like the very last digit might be a 7. I'm not sure but I believe the date is May 7, 19_7. So going by today's standards it would leave one to believe that this was written the year prior, approximately 19_6. I have read that this particular frame reached its peak of popularity around 1920. Just a guess but maybe the year is 1916, or 1926.

What comes with this item: Eyeglasses, Case, two labeled cleaning cloths, and one appointment card.

Manufacturer: American Optical
Circa: 1920's approximately
Condition: Excellent Vintage

The catseye frame style became very popular in the 1950's and 60's so that would lead one to believe the glasses in this listing have to be some of the earliest catseye frames created, pretty cool huh?

The shipping costs are only an estimate so I would appreciate it if you would contact me with your mailing address so I can update the listing with the exact shipping fees before you place your order. At that time if you would like for me to I can reserve this listing for you to ensure its availability.

I usually ship via USPS, Priority, the cost of shipping is based on this as well as packing materials. If you would like it shipped a different way please contact me.

If you would like this shipped outside of the United States please email me and I will find out the shipping cost for you.

I am happy to combine shipping.

Thanks for looking and if you have any questions please let me know.

Olivia

I try to describe each item in detail and do research so I can be as accurate as possible, there are occasions that I have difficulty finding helpful information; when and if that happens I post what I can about the item. If I find any problems I post them so you will be aware that they exist; however, It is possible that I might miss something even though I try to be as thorough as possible. Please check the photos and if you need more photos or have any questions please ask. The vintage items are sometimes time worn which is to be expected considering the age of the products, but this uniqueness only adds to the mystic and charm. I am always amazed how something can be many years old, even 100 + years old in some cases and survive without even a nick or crack - wouldn't it be fascinating to know the history of each piece; what care was taken to keep the beauty and functionality intact, its travels, and so much more.

If you have any questions about an item, please ask before purchasing because all of my vintage items are offered "as is" and all sales are final and non-refundable, with few exceptions.

Returns & exchanges

I am not responsible for damaged, late or lost packages once I have shipped them so I will not issue refunds for this. You will need to contact your post office to correct the issue. I do delivery confirmation with a tracking number and get insurance and will contact you with that number when the item is shipped.

I do my best to describe the item, including sizes, colors, condition, etc. but I totally understand you may have more questions and/or need further clarification. So before you complete your purchase please make for sure you are comfortable with it. If you have any questions about the item at all convo me and I will do my best to answer your questions to the best of my ability.

On the items that are one of a kind I will not be able to replace them. If I have misrepresented an item I will be happy to issue a refund. But before I issue the refund I will need to have the item sent back to me at your expense. Refunds are not impossible but will not happen for reasons other than deliberate misrepresentation on my part. It is possible for me to make a mistake but I try my best to put accurate information on the listing. For vintage items sometimes I find in my research some conflicting information, an example would be the title of a specific pattern might vary or the exact year an item was produced. So if you have concerns in this area please do research to make for sure you are comfortable with the item. (Having said that if you do find a discrepancy I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me know so I can correct it).
