Swimming Crab and Seaweed Mandala linocut print

This is a hand made original linocut repeat print. Carved and printed by hand, using Cranfield caligo ink on fine Japanese washi. Each completed print features six impressions of the plate, resulting in six crabs and six fronds of seaweed in a hexagonal pattern. This process does mean there is some variation in the prints. There will be print chatter and small smudges, which add to the character. Every one is unique.

I’m lucky to live by the sea. When the tide is low I’ll head out with my brother to see what we can find.
Most animals hide away and wait for us to pass (although curiosity will often tempt a lobster out). Not so the velvet swimming crabs. These ninja crustaceans are on the attack! They move at speed and can reach behind their backs with their pincers.

This print would look good in a 50cm square box frame. The one in the photo is from Ikea. The print is posted wrapped in tissue paper and rolled into a wide poster tube.
