A combination of the traditional patterns with a simple modern touch.
Turquoise is one of the most common and important colors in Turkish ceramic art but was not used on its own traditionally (in the Ottoman period).
The pattern on the bowl is called Cintemani and literally means 'the Chinese point'. It consists of three points. It has its roots in Buddhism. It symbolizes the three jewels (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha) of Buddha. It was used by Uyghur Turks as a symbol of sovereignty before their conversion to Islam. Ottomans also used it as a symbol of power (out of its original context) because it resembles a panther’s skin and its scratches.
The clay of this bowl contains a lot more quartz in it than usual which actually makes the item more difficult to make but stronger, as it is a very hard crystal stone, powdered and mixed in the soil.
It is believed that it gives good energy as well. Thats why the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire wanted this material to be used in the tiles when decorating the walls of important structures (such as the Blue Mosque, Rustem Pasha Mosque, Topkapi Palace, etc.).
P.S. We also take special orders. For example, you love this pattern very much but you prefer it on another ceramic shape OR you really loved the item but want it in another color OR you liked the shape but prefer it with another design/pattern. Everything is possible and we will be happy to make your wishes come true :)
We always send pictures and get your confirmation before shipping the items. Please send a message if you have any further questions and we will be glad to answer.
