🦋 SKULL MOTH SPECIMEN – ACHERONTIA ATROPOS
The Skull Moth (Acherontia atropos) is recognized by the striking skull-shaped marking on its thorax. Its mysterious and highly distinctive appearance has inspired folklore, literature, artwork, and film for generations.
Each real moth specimen is carefully prepared with its wings fully spread, allowing its natural colors, patterns, textures, and unique details to be clearly displayed. More than simply an insect specimen, it is a distinctive collectible that combines natural history, gothic aesthetics, and artistic beauty.
🌿 SPECIMEN DETAILS
• Species: Acherontia atropos
• Common Name: Skull Moth / Death’s-head Hawkmoth
• Condition: Real, dried, and carefully prepared specimen
• Display: Wings fully spread
• Approximate Wingspan: 9–13 cm / 3.5–5 in
• Quantity: One specimen
Because this is a real natural specimen, the exact size, color, markings, wing shape, and small details may vary slightly. These natural differences make every moth completely unique.
Please note that a display frame, glass dome, pins, background, and other decorative accessories are not included unless specifically stated in the selected option.
🕯️ DISPLAY & CARE
This specimen can be displayed in:
• A shadow box or glass frame
• A glass dome
• A curiosity cabinet
• An entomology or natural history collection
• A gothic or dark academia display
For long-term preservation, keep the specimen in a dry indoor environment and away from direct sunlight, moisture, and frequent handling.
Real moth wings are naturally delicate, so please handle the specimen gently. Suitable insect-handling tools are recommended when moving or framing it.
🎁 PERFECT FOR
• Butterfly and moth collectors
• Entomology and natural history enthusiasts
• Gothic and dark academia décor
• Curiosity cabinets and oddities collections
• Artists, designers, and creative projects
• Unique gifts for collectors, artists, or nature enthusiasts
• Birthday, Halloween, or special occasion gifts
