Open mesh in forest green cotton and linen, crocheted loose enough to let the light through.

WHAT IT IS

A cropped, oversized crochet sweater in a cotton and linen blend, worked in open mesh stitches with bell sleeves that run long past the wrist. The body sits cropped at the waist and measures 35 cm (15.0 in) long and 51 cm (20 in) across. The sleeves run 45 cm (17.7 in) from shoulder to cuff. Every gap in the mesh is placed by hand, one motif at a time, in forest green.

WHAT GOES INTO IT

Ten to sixteen hours, and open mesh does not forgive rushing.
Each gap is placed by hand, one motif at a time, so it holds its own shape with no dense fabric behind it to lean on. Cotton and linen do not stretch to cover a slip in tension, and that tension has to stay even across 51 cm of width and down 45 cm of bell sleeve.
Fifty percent cotton, forty percent linen, ten percent polyamide - the polyamide is what keeps an open stitch from sagging.
There is one of this sweater, this dye lot - sell it and there is no second run to spread those hours across.

HOW IT FEELS

Cotton and linen together have more body than a soft acrylic knit - the mesh holds its shape and does not cling.
Linen brings a slight dry, crisp hand that softens with wear and washing; the cotton keeps the drape from feeling stiff.
It sits open and airy against the skin, closer to wearing a woven mesh than a snug knit. Layer a cami or tank underneath for less midriff or more warmth.

MATERIALS

- 50% cotton
- 40% linen
- 10% polyamide

I print the full split, including the small polyamide share. It is part of what lets the open stitches hold their shape, not just the cotton and linen you can see.

SIZE

- Length: 35 cm (15.0 in)
- Width: 51 cm (20 in)
- Sleeve length: 45 cm (17.7 in)

ONE PIECE ONLY

There is one of this, and when it goes the listing goes with it.
I do not restock and I do not repeat a colourway - partly by choice, partly because the yarn came from one dye lot and that lot is finished.
If you want something close, message me and we can talk about a commission. It will not be this one.

CARE

Hand wash cool, or machine on a wool cycle in a mesh bag. Mild detergent, no bleach.
Do not wring. Reshape while damp and dry flat.
Cool iron on the reverse if you want the mesh to sit flat.
Cotton linen softens with every wash and creases honestly. Both are the point.
