Tidemaris is an imagined coastal city built around water. At its center, two monumental tidal gates rise above a network of canals, locks, bridges and white-stone terraces leading toward the open sea.

The composition follows the main waterway from the harbor in the foreground to the enormous towers at the top of the city. Boats move through several levels of locks while bridges connect crowded promenades, stairways and waterfront buildings on both sides.

Pale architecture dominates the scene, broken up by turquoise water, blue domes, flowering plants and small touches of gold. The bright Mediterranean light keeps the city airy despite the amount of architectural detail.

The tidal gates are the main visual idea. Instead of ordinary castle walls, the city controls the sea through a sequence of monumental barriers and waterways, giving Tidemaris the character of a place shaped by engineering as much as architecture.

Arched bridges, palace-like façades, canal terraces and distant sailing boats give the city a classical coastal appearance without tying it to a real historical location. Tidemaris belongs entirely to the fictional world of the Cities That Never Were Collection.

The title at the bottom reads “TIDEMARIS – City of the Great Tidal Gates,” leaving the cityscape itself almost completely unobstructed.

White, blue and warm stone tones make the artwork easy to pair with modern interiors, dark frames, natural wood and other travel or architectural prints. It works well in living rooms, offices, bedrooms, entryways and game rooms.

For people who collect fantasy cities, imaginary architecture, ocean kingdoms, speculative travel art or detailed world-building imagery, Tidemaris offers a city that feels almost possible despite never having existed.
