This pack is all fifty state flags, plus Washington DC and the United States flag — fifty-two in total, every one at the full 1440x816 resolution. Each is drawn from the official vector artwork at its correct proportions, and each is animated as a real piece of cloth.

They are not videos of flags. The cloth is simulated: a travelling wave runs through it, the surface normal is computed at every point, and the shading follows the folds rather than being painted on top of them. The colours narrow and widen as the cloth turns away from you, and the highlight travels along a crease instead of sitting on it. The wave completes exactly one cycle over the loop, so the last frame is the first frame again and it runs without a seam for as long as you leave the room.

It works this way for a reason worth knowing: Etsy caps a digital listing at five files of twenty megabytes. This pack is 489 megabytes. Delivered through Etsy it would have to be shrunk to roughly an eighth of its resolution — and that is exactly what most large digital packs on this site quietly do. Hosting it instead is what lets you have the genuine full-size originals.

The master is larger than any deck needs, so the Stream Deck app scales it to whatever you own and nothing comes out stretched. An illustrated HTML guide and a plain text README come with them.

WHY BUY THE SET

Because the interesting thing about state flags is the comparison. Side by side you notice how many of them are a state seal on a blue bedsheet, and how much better the handful that are actually designed — New Mexico, Arizona, Maryland, Alaska, Colorado — look when they are moving. It is also the practical answer if you travel, if you stream to a national audience, or if you just want to change it with the seasons rather than pick one and live with it.

At fifty-two flags this works out to well under a dollar each, against six dollars for a single.

INSTALLING

About a minute. Gear icon, Devices tab, Set Screensaver, drop in the flag you want, click Set Animation. The guide walks it through with pictures, including the one mistake everybody makes, which is clicking "Set Image" and getting a still frame instead.

HONEST LIMITS

These are animated GIFs, so they need the Stream Deck app version 6.6 or newer. The Stream Deck MINI cannot display animations at all — that is a limitation of the hardware, not of these files, and it is better said here than discovered afterwards. This is a digital download, so nothing ships.

Every flag here was drawn from scratch in code by one person, from the official state vector artwork, with no stock footage and no traced images — and that same person answers the messages. If something looks wrong, say so and you will get a real answer.
