Description

This is a pocket watch by the American Waltham Watch Company. It is a grade No. 210, 7 jewel, 12 size movement made in 1908. The serial number is 17479110.

When gently shaken, the balance wheel swings freely for a second or two, but the tiny stump of a second hand does not advance. As I am unsure of the issues with this watch, I am selling it as entirely non-functional.

This movement is absolutely beautifully damaskeened. It seems to be very clean, and is lovely. The dial is in good condition, but does have some hairline cracks on the right side. The largest runs from the edge of the dial above the 2 o'clock position down to the 4 o'clock position. From there, it splits. Part of the crack runs up to the edge of the dial past the 3 o'clock position. The other side runs from the 4 o'clock position, to the left where it meets the sub-second dial. Otherwise, the dial is clean, but could use a cleaning. The stump of one hand is attached at the center of the dial, and there is a small stump of a second hand present. However, both hand pieces are rusting quite a bit.

This is a beautiful sterling silver case! The front lens is missing, but the bezel shuts securely as it should. There is minimal tarnish on the bezel. The back cover has lovely floral engraving and a blank cartouche. There are a few light dings to the upper part of the back of the case. The back cover opens just a bit shy of the 90 degree mark. Inside the back cover, it is labeled "C.W. C. Co., Trademark Sterling" with a crescent moon and star. The serial number for the case is 4872. The outer part of the cuvette is monogrammed with a long string of initials which I cannot decipher. Under the initials are "Sparring" and "1913." The inner part of the cuvette is again labeled as sterling, with the crescent moon and star, and the serial number 4872. Both back covers fit tightly. The bow sits tightly as it should, and is nicely engraved. The crown is brass in color, but does not set the time or wind the movement. (I cannot get it to pull out for this.)

This pocket watch does not work in its current condition, and is being sold for repair or re-purposing. It measures just under 48mm wide and is just over 59mm tall from the bottom of the case to the top of the crown. Enjoy!

I ship USPS priority mail flat rate. This means you can stuff the box and the shipping price stays the same. Purchase $50 or more and shipping is free inside the US!
