Description

IMPORTANT: Details are available following the description. Please, read on. Thank you.

Just when you thought you would never find that charming pair of French "dormeuses" (i..e, sleepers), it showed up in our store. They were so popular at the turn of the twentieth century when well dressed women would simply not go out without them. They were as popular in the 1900s as our diamond studs are today. And they are even more so now that they are becoming more and more difficult to find.

The fact that they are called "dormeuses" (from the French verb "dormir", to sleep) is because women kept them on all the time, even when they slept. They are that comfortable!

These danglers are gorgeous, they swing just enough to let the light through the diamonds and project myriad of sparkles. The designer was a skillful craftsman who used premium material, i.e., 18K solid gold* and platinum 950. Diamonds on each earring adorn these sleepers. They measure 1.5mm for the rose cut and 3m for the old European cut which sways beneath the roses. The rose cut is bezel set while the old mine cut is cathedral set with 8 prongs. Total carat weight is approximately 0.26. They just don't make this quality any more!

In addition to the customary stamps which guarantees their 18 carat solid gold and platinum content, these earrings feature a number (6754). The number indicates that they were probably made for a special customer, according to certain specifications. Not your industrialized big box jewelry!

The earrings are in unadulterated flawless condition, and are very secure with the lever back mechanism working perfectly. They will soon become your earrings of choice. They are in excellent estate condition. Any white or cloudy spots on the image is glare and/or photographic obstructions.

Size: 17mm
