This sweet old-timey book, written by Alice Hegan, was first published in 1901, but retained such a level of popularity that there were subsequent reprintings in the late 1920's. This particular copy of Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch is an August 1929 printing. The book is 6.75 x 7.75 inches in size and 173 pages long.

I'm not going to go into the plot summary, but it is the story of the long-suffering yet optimistic Mrs. Wiggs, and if you're curious, you can find a more detailed plot synopsis online. And if you cinema buffs think this name sounds familiar, there was a 1934 film based upon this book, which starred, among others, W.C. Fields.

BOOK CONDITION

For those of you who want to read this book or those of you who want a lovely old book to sit out as an accent piece, this is a very nice copy. The exterior shows a teense of shelf wear around the edges and the corners are a bit bent, but it's really quite clean and the illustration is quite vivid. (I have to inquire, is Mrs. Wiggs holding a handbag or a very large paddle?) The interior shows some age-related yellowing and has an inscription on the inside, but is otherwise in excellent condition.
