Brooms are historically as old as mankind. They have functional uses to sweep clear areas of dirt and debris. Brooms come in all shapes and sizes and are constructed from diverse materials.

They have also been used in rituals, for example brooms are used in “Jumping the Broom” at weddings. Of course, we often recognize the old-fashioned besom broom as reportedly holding magical qualities and we connect them with witches, wizards, and Halloween.

Recently, they have also been displayed as pieces of art. Debbie Pietruszka became interested in brooms in 2014 and took a class in Appalachian broom making in 2015 at John C Campbell Folk School at Brasstown, North Carolina. She and her classmates were immersed in learning how to create different styles of brooms such as hearth brooms, floor sweepers, cobwebber brooms, and decorative brooms.

Also, she created the “Energy Sweeper” especially for those people who desire to clear or smudge energy of people and spaces.

At Serendipity Meadows, she grows and harvests willow which is creatively used in her brooms.

Debbie makes her brooms for all uses and occasions. She especially enjoys creating custom brooms. Customers are encourages to contact her to order their unique broom style. She intuitively connects with their preferences in style, color, and use of materials to achieve that unique, one-of-a-kind broom.

This broom was named "Crooked Handle". The wooden handle has a dark-colored satin finish. The broom is decorated with olive green hemp, beige suede cording, and wooden beads. Also, the handle measures 1 inch in diameter and the broom length is 40 inches.
