Description

This listing is for arranging custom orders for memory quilts. Obviously I don't have any in stock right now. If you would like to arrange to have me make one for you, please contact me and we can come to an agreement on pricing.

The prices in this listing are just ballpark. The hours involved in making one of these depends on size and complexity, so please contact me ahead of time to discuss your needs and the memory fabrics you want me to use before committing to an order. I want you to be satisfied rather than surprised.

The first four of these photos show memory quilts I made for the four children of a mom who had lovingly saved pieces of her kids' clothing until they grew up. I had to augment her choices with my own fabrics to provide a sense of unity.

The fifth photo shows a crib quilt containing flowered snippets of a beloved grandma's tablecloth. I incorporated them into a (mostly) windmill pattern made from fabrics from my own stash.

I used all these treasured fabrics as elements in 'crazy' quilting, the only method that works since the sizes and shapes of these scraps usually vary so widely. Some fabrics stretch and some don't, so I apply them to a stable backing of cotton fabric as the quilt top. In larger quilts like the first four, I back the patterned top with fleece fabric the color of my customer's choosing. The crib quilt went to a child going to warmer climes, so I used a a light batting and cotton flannel to back it.

Making one of these quilts/throws is like figuring out a large puzzle without a picture to go by. It's an adventure, and it takes time. They are approximately 44" wide (the width of a piece of fleece off the bolt), and 72" to 84" long.

I don't make modular T-shirt quilts; there are companies specializing in those whose prices are quite reasonable.

Beautiful sweater! We initially purchased a sweater that turned out to be a little tight on our son. We asked to swap it for a larger one we saw on Francette's site but instead of just swapping it for one already made, Francette asked for our sons measurement and knitted him a brand new sweater that fitted perfectly (with a little extra room to grow). Communication was great and Francette kept us updated along the way. Was even accommodating of our tight time line as we were heading off on vacation. Thank you so much!! Great experience.

Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
I will take personal checks if that is your preferred method of payment, and send you your item once it clears my bank. It would probably be easier for you to use PayPal or a credit card, both of which are really easy to use through Etsy.

Returns & exchanges

I will issue a full refund after you return an item if you're really not happy with it once you receive it. I don't issue refunds for shipping unless it turns out that I've misrepresented the product (for instance, the color varies wildly from that in the photo of the item on my website). Please don't use an item for your wedding or another special event and then return it for a refund; that's just not nice.

Shipping policies

I ship shawls and adult sweaters in boxes so they won't get mashed, so shipping is more expensive for those items. Small sweaters fit into large soft mailers so you save on shipping. Thank you for your understanding.

Additional policies

Custom orders take time, so please allow plenty of it if you want something special for a wedding or a birthday. Every single thing I make is made carefully by hand and priced as low as possible already considering the number of hours of work involved. Therefore I do not sell wholesale or give discounts on multiple items.
