West Africa Barbershop sign. Paintings like these are found in many countries in West Africa and in parts of the Caribbean. This sign with the caption 'Kris Kross' on a portrait of sharply quaft men was likely made in Ghana, W. Africa, with names for the various hair cut styles '7up', 'front and back row', 'gentle cut' and 'swet' (probably a typo for sweet) with some hair care products. This is a beauiful example of an African folk art painting, hand painted on plywood with a wooden framework and wire attached for easy hanging, this painting measures "48" x "16" x "1". The colors of red, white and blue are some of the prominent colors.
