Summer Nature Study for Kids, 8-Week Homeschool Unit, Butterfly Life Cycle, Pond Study, Ages 5-10

Summer is nature at full volume. Butterflies on the milkweed, ladybugs on the roses, dragonflies over the pond, fireflies at dusk and a garden full of food.

Nature Study with June: Summer is an 8-week, 65-page printable nature study for ages 5–10, built around permaculture: designing like nature does. Every week has a story, real hands-on science, and a recipe, formula or project to try at home.

8 WEEKS, ONE BIG IDEA EACH
1. Sun Power: shadow tracking and a pizza-box solar oven
2. Garden Helpers: a helper hunt, the ladybug life cycle and a bug hotel
3. Butterfly Garden: host plants, the monarch life cycle and a butterfly puddle
4. Pond Life: pond dipping, dragonfly nymphs and an underwater viewer
5. Harvest Time: harvest tally, which plant parts we eat, and quick fridge pickles
6. Water-Wise Garden: the mulch experiment, the finger test and a mini olla
7. Night Garden: fireflies, bats and a moth-watching sheet
8. Save the Seeds: how seeds travel, seed saving and a seed library

• A kids' worksheet: sun and oven logs, helper and pond tallies, butterfly watch, harvest tally, the mulch experiment, a night watch, a seed sort
