Personalised Dog Memorial Print, Byron Epitaph, Beauty Without Vanity, Pet Loss Gift with Name and Years

A personalised dog memorial print with Lord Byron's epitaph for his dog, Beauty without Vanity, and your dog's name and years set beneath, in the style of a Landseer portrait.

For the dog who was all of that and more.

This one is for the dog who was all of that and more.

THE SCENE
In 1808 Lord Byron buried his Newfoundland, Boatswain, at Newstead Abbey and wrote words for him that every dog owner recognises: Beauty without Vanity, Strength without Insolence, Courage without Ferocity. The print sets them beneath a gentle portrait of a dog at rest, with your dog's name and years.

THE INSPIRATION
The look comes from Edwin Landseer's A Distinguished Member of the Humane Society (1838), in the Tate: the noble head and the quiet dignity of a dog painted like a person. The dog and the setting are my own.

BORDERED OR FULL BLEED
Same price either way. Bordered has a cream border and caption, and the A4 and A3 sizes carry a small QR code: scan it and your family, friends and guests can see the story behind the print on their phones. Full bleed runs the picture right to the edge.

MAKE IT THEIRS
Add your dog's name and the years they lived in the box at checkout, and they are set quietly beneath Byron's words in the same lettering as the title. Please check the spelling, as the print is made exactly as you type it.

HOW IT'S MADE
A print of a digital artwork in the style of a Victorian dog portrait, not an original. Each carries my printed Chapter & Scene signature.
