Specifications

What Actually Changed? guide cover beside the blank impact checklist, under the question “Just tidied the wording?”, with printable and editable formats listed below.

"Updated proposal attached."

A revised proposal, report, brief or page of web copy has arrived. What Actually Changed? helps you find the changes that affect what someone will receive, pay, do or expect, keep them apart from wording polish, and ask before you approve.

WHAT YOU GET
- START_HERE.pdf: 2 A4 pages. What each file is for, and a first task with two fictional versions of one proposal.
- The guide: a 12-page A4 PDF. The method, four tools explained, four messages, a worked example and difficult cases.
- The Tools PDF: 5 A4 pages, a cover and then the version-pair card, change sheet, impact checklist and review summary.
- An editable Word file with the same tools and messages to type into.
- VERSION_CHANGE_REGISTER.csv: a blank register, ten columns, one row per change. Plus the worked example's register, filled in.
- VERSION_REVIEW_MESSAGES.txt: four messages and a plain-text summary.
- Practice files (fictional): two versions of one proposal, as Word files.

YOUR DOWNLOAD (4 files)
1. Fixed_That_What_Actually_Changed_v1.0.zip, with everything inside
2. START_HERE.pdf
3. What_Actually_Changed_Guide.pdf
4. What_Actually_Changed_Tools_Print_and_Fill.pdf
The three PDFs are the same files as those in the ZIP, so you can open them straight away on a phone. The Etsy app doesn't download files, so use a browser on a computer for the ZIP.

WHO IT'S FOR
Freelancers, consultants and small studios who receive revised client documents.

THE FOUR MESSAGES
Routine version summary · A change needs a decision · Ask for the earlier version · Two revised versions disagree

HOW TO USE IT
1. Open START_HERE.pdf and try the first task.
2. Name the two versions on the version-pair card before you compare.
3. Compare them (for example with Word's Compare, or side by side) and record each change that matters, with the exact before and after wording.
4. Follow each change to its effect with the impact checklist.
5. Fill in the review summary and send the message it points to. A comparison is not an approval.

FORMAT
- Instant digital download. Nothing physical is posted.
- A manual kit, not an app. It doesn't compare files for you or show that every change has been found.
- A4 pages. The Tools PDF is all portrait.
- Fillable on screen: the version-pair card, impact checklist and review summary (Tools PDF pages 2, 4 and 5). Every page also prints.
- Filling on a tablet or computer: type into the boxes in Adobe Acrobat Reader or Apple Preview, and type an x to tick a box. Using a notes app with a pen? Write on the pages by hand instead.
- You need apps that open PDF, DOCX, CSV, TXT and ZIP files.

USE AND PERMISSIONS
Adapt the tools and messages for your own business and client work. Please don't resell or share the blank kit. It's a communication resource, not legal advice.
