After starting their Winter Carnivals, as they've come to be known, in 1886, Saint Paul continued with them in 1887, 1888, and 1896. Then inexplicably, since winter came every year, the carnival didn't occur again until 1916, a 20-year break from the previous one. This postally-unused postcard is an advertisement for that carnival and for a piece of 100+-year-old ephemera, it's in remarkable condition!

The card measures 5.5" x 3.5" and with the exception of the two corners on the left side of the face, which are nicked, this postcard appears to be in excellent condition. Plus, it's a great example of American Advertising Art from the Arts and Crafts period, with an appealing, eye-catching design and color palette. Very cool, and as a throwaway item in its day, not very common now.

Own a piece of Saint Paul, Minnesota, history!
