Know what to charge for your handmade jewelry, wholesale and retail, and what you keep after Etsy fees. Type your beads, wire, chain, findings and silver at the price you paid, the amounts in each design and your minutes, and the sheet shows your wholesale price, retail price, profit after fees and profit per hour at the top, in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

The filled-in example: a hand-knotted pearl necklace costs $54.54, including 110 minutes at $20 an hour, 5% waste, tool wear and packaging. With cost x 2 = wholesale and wholesale x 2 = retail, it sells for $110.00 wholesale or $220.00 retail and keeps $143.22 after Etsy fees and postage. Change any number and the price updates as you type.

Made for jewelry makers in the US who sell on Etsy, at craft fairs or wholesale to shops. Instant download for Excel and Google Sheets on a computer.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Price from your real supply costs: type the pack price, how much is in the pack and the unit. Beads and pearls by the piece (a strand of about 63 pearls = 63 pieces), wire and chain by the foot and used by the inch ($4.50 a foot of gold-filled chain = $0.375 an inch), silk cord by the meter, ear wires by the pair, glue by the ml, clasps, jump rings and charms by the piece.
- Price silver and gold by weight: type the troy ounce price you paid and weigh each design in grams or pennyweights. Sterling wire at $45 a troy ounce is $1.45 a gram.
- Set wholesale and retail together: wholesale = total cost x 2 and retail = wholesale x 2 to start, both multipliers yours to change. Or price for a target profit, or check the price you charge now with "My price" - with those two, the wholesale price is half the retail price, about what shops pay.
- Price by the batch: type how many pieces you make in one sitting, then the minutes and amounts for the whole batch. Four pairs of earrings made together share one sitting.
- Time in three steps: design (lay out, cut), make (string, wrap, solder) and finish (polish, card), in minutes.
- Add waste and redo: offcuts, broken beads and pieces you make again - 5% adds $5 to every $100 of materials.
- Count tool wear: pliers, cutters, mandrels and saw blades per piece - a $30 set of pliers that lasts about 200 pieces is $0.15 a piece.
- Count packaging and display cards: earring cards as a material by the piece on the recipe, the box or pouch as packaging per piece.
- Glue dry time and a polisher: pay yourself 0% to 100% of the time glue needs to dry, and add a polisher or ultrasonic cleaner by its watts and hours.
- Pay yourself: your time x your hourly wage is part of the cost, so any profit is on top of your pay.
- Count every cost: packaging, shipping supplies, tool wear and a share of your monthly costs (shop fees, software, insurance) spread over the pieces you make in a month.
- See your Etsy fees line by line: transaction fee 6.5% of the item and the shipping you charge, payment processing 3% of what the buyer pays (including sales tax) + $0.25, and the $0.20 listing fee. Every rate is yours to change.
- Know your profit and your hourly earnings: profit after fees, profit as a % of the price, profit per hour, what you earn per hour with your wage, and your profit per piece when you sell wholesale.
- See every design on one Price List: cost, wholesale, retail, Etsy fees, postage, profit and profit per hour, side by side.
- Catch typing slips before you price: a missing number, text in a number cell, a zero pack size or amount, a number far too large, an hourly wage under $1 or polisher watts typed in kW (0.1 instead of 100) turns red, and the price stays hidden until it is fixed. A fraction typed as 1/2 or a time typed as 1:30 turns red and asks for a decimal (0.5, 1.5). These turn orange so you can double-check: over 40 hours of work for one piece, a dry time over 72 hours, a polisher running over 24 hours a batch, waste over 30%, polisher watts over 1,500, one piece using more than a quarter of a pack (by weight or volume) or over 93 g (about 3 troy ounces) or 72 in (6 ft) of one supply, more than 3 pairs in one piece (the pairs per batch left at 1), a troy ounce under $10 or a pennyweight under $0.50 (a gram price in the wrong unit), gold under $1 a gram or $0.50 a foot and silver under $0.30 a gram or $0.10 a foot (a big pack typed as one), gold or silver priced in oz instead of ozt, a supply over $3 an inch, whatever length unit you pick (a price per foot or per meter typed with a smaller unit; names with 14k, 18k, solid or platinum may cost more), a price that looks like a date, an item price over $2,500, and a piece that loses money after fees.
- See what each material costs in one piece: the Pricing Calculator lists the biggest material lines of the design, biggest cost first, with the amount in one piece, its cost and its share, next to the recipe line and the pack as you typed them - so a wrong unit or a batch amount typed for one piece stands out. A short note above the Materials and Recipes tables and a tip on the pack price, pack size and amount cells say what to type: the whole pack, and the whole batch.

HOW TO USE IT
1. Materials: type each supply once - the pack price, how much is in the pack and the unit.
2. Products and Recipes: on Products, one row per design with the pieces per batch, the minutes of each step, the glue dry time, the polisher watts and hours, the waste share, tool wear, packaging and postage. On Recipes, the beads, inches of wire or chain, grams of silver and findings for the whole batch.
3. Pricing Calculator: pick a design and set your hourly wage, how much of the dry time you are paid for, monthly costs, electricity price, pricing method and Etsy fees. The wholesale price, retail price, profit after fees and profit per hour show at the top.

FAQ
How much should I charge for handmade jewelry?
Add up the beads, wire, findings and metal, your time at an hourly wage, waste, tool wear, packaging and a share of your monthly costs - that is your total cost. Wholesale is cost x 2 and retail is wholesale x 2 to start. In the example, a hand-knotted pearl necklace costs $54.54 (110 minutes at $20 an hour included) and sells for $110.00 wholesale or $220.00 retail, leaving $143.22 after Etsy fees on a retail sale.

What is the formula for wholesale and retail jewelry prices?
A common starting point is total cost x 2 = wholesale and wholesale x 2 = retail. Both multipliers are cells you change: with x 1.5 for wholesale, the example necklace is $82.00 wholesale and $164.00 retail, with $92.66 profit after Etsy fees. Your wage is already in the cost, so the multipliers are profit on top of your pay.

How do I price silver by the gram?
Type the troy ounce price you paid (pack size 1, unit ozt) and weigh the metal in each design in grams - 1 troy ounce is 31.1 g, so $45 a troy ounce is $1.45 a gram. In the example, 24 g of sterling wire for six sets of stacking rings is $34.72, $6.37 a set with 10% waste, and the set sells for $62.00 retail or $31.00 wholesale. When the metal price changes, type the new one and every price follows.

How do I price chain and wire by the inch?
Type the spool or length you bought by the foot and use it by the inch on the recipe. Gold-filled chain at $4.50 a foot is $0.375 an inch, so a 7.5-inch bracelet uses $2.81 of chain. Gold-filled wire at $24.99 for 10 feet is $0.21 an inch.

How do I include tool wear in my jewelry prices?
Divide what a tool cost by about how many pieces it lasts and type it as equipment wear per piece on the Products sheet. A $30 set of pliers that lasts about 200 pieces is $0.15 a piece. The example necklace carries $0.10 and the stacking rings $0.25 for the saw blades and mandrel.

How do I add waste and broken beads?
Type the waste share on the Products sheet: offcuts, broken beads and pieces you redo. 5% adds $5 to every $100 of materials. In the example, the necklace's $14.86 of pearls, silk and findings becomes $15.60.

How do I price earrings made in a batch?
Type the number of pairs you make in one sitting and the minutes and supplies for the whole batch, display cards included. In the example, four pairs of gemstone drop earrings cost $9.01 a pair and sell for $19.00 wholesale or $38.00 retail, with $24.43 profit after Etsy fees.

Can I price for a target profit instead?
Yes. Pick "Target profit" and type the share of the price you want to keep after Etsy fees, 40% to start. The retail price is set for that profit and the wholesale price is half the retail price, about what shops pay. For the example necklace, that is $111.00 retail with $44.80 profit after Etsy fees and $56.00 wholesale - only $1.46 over your costs and your wage when a shop buys it, so for wholesale orders the multipliers ($110.00 wholesale) leave you more.

How much profit do I make after Etsy fees?
The calculator works out each fee on what it is charged on. For the example necklace at $220.00 with $4.50 shipping and 7% sales tax, Etsy fees come to $22.24 and the profit after fees, postage and all costs is $143.22 - $78.12 for each hour of work on top of your $20 wage. Sold to a shop at $110.00 wholesale, it leaves $55.46.

Is the price I charge now high enough?
Type it in the My price column on the Products sheet and pick "My price". You see the profit after fees, the margin and what you earn per hour at that price, and the status line at the top turns orange if the price is below your cost or loses money after fees.

Can I offer free shipping?
Yes. Type $0 for the shipping you charge. The postage you pay stays a cost, and the transaction fee is then only on the item price.

Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Your download includes a PDF with a link: click it and Google Sheets makes your own copy, no upload needed. In my checks, with the same numbers typed in, every price and check gave the same result in Google Sheets as in Excel, and the dropdown lists and the red and orange checks carry over. In Google Sheets, fill only the yellow cells and type decimals such as 0.5, not fractions such as 1/2.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD
After you buy, open etsy.com in a web browser (computer recommended), go to Purchases and reviews, and click Download Files. Digital files cannot be downloaded in the Etsy app.
- Microsoft Excel: open the .xlsx file in Excel on a computer.
- Google Sheets: open the PDF in your download, click Make my copy in Google Sheets, then click Make a copy. The copy is saved in your Google Drive. A free Google account is enough. (You can also upload the .xlsx at drive.google.com: New > File upload, then right-click it > Open with > Google Sheets.)

LIMITATIONS
- Instant digital download. Nothing is shipped. No beads, findings or patterns are included - this is a pricing spreadsheet.
- Needs Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets on a computer.
- Made in Microsoft Excel and checked in Google Sheets.
- Not tested in Excel on the web, Excel for Mac, Numbers or the Google Sheets phone app.
- In Google Sheets, formula cells are not locked as they are in Excel. The copy from your link warns you before you type over a formula; an uploaded .xlsx does not, so fill only the yellow cells.
- US dollars. Units convert within the same kind (weight, length, volume, count); a length can't be turned into a weight, so wire bought by the foot is used by length and silver bought by the troy ounce by weight.
- Metal prices are not looked up for you: type the price you paid, and type the new one when it changes.
- Craft fair booth fees are not a line of their own: add them to your monthly costs, or check a fair price with My price.
- Prices assume one piece per order; with several pieces in one order, the shipping, the $0.25 fixed fee and the postage are shared, so each piece keeps a little more.
- Room for 50 materials, 25 designs and 200 recipe lines.
- It is a pricing tool, not an inventory, supply stock or bookkeeping file.
- Etsy fees and the sales tax rate in the file are examples (Etsy US fees as published in Oct 2026; Offsite Ads, Etsy Ads, currency conversion, shipping labels and fees in other countries not included). Check your own shop and your local sales tax rate.
- Example supply and metal prices, times, tool wear, waste shares and costs are examples. Replace them with your own.
- For use in your own business. Please do not resell or share the file.
- Because this is a digital download, returns and exchanges are not accepted.
