This is a size six platform stiletto, upcycled of course into a new life. I removed the top of the shoe, sanded it, drilled holes for drainage, and then planted it with a pink-spined baby cactus called ferocactus gracilis.

The stiletto heel is goldtone with little rhinestones, meant to shimmer on a dance floor. Now, they make cool tiny rainbows on the wall from the sun.

The succulent plant will need bright light and just a little water from time to time. In return, it'll repay you with a stark reminder of how hard it is to...well, to be a woman.

Remember, Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in high heels. ~Faith Whittlesey
