Two of your people have stopped talking to each other, and everyone on the team has noticed. Most managers learn to mediate by getting it wrong with real people. This simulator lets you practice first.

The Conflict Management Simulator is an interactive mediation simulator that runs in your web browser. Both employees are in the room. Set the ground rules, hear both sides, take a private word with each of them, and help them reach their own agreement. Then read what each of them texted a friend afterwards.

Designed by an HR professional and built on the mediation approach I teach: ground rules, three minutes each, reflect and reframe, the shared interest, one written agreement, and a check-in two weeks later.

THE THREE SCENARIOS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
No. 01 The Shared Desk (foundational, about 25 minutes)
Two designers on the same client account have stopped talking. One is fast and loud, the other careful and quiet. Then: “Everyone else finds her hard to work with too.”

No. 02 Missed Handoff (intermediate, about 30 minutes)
Sales and operations blame each other for three late deliveries to a key customer, and the two teams have taken sides. Both leads are partly right, and both are hiding something.

No. 03 Not a Mediation (advanced, about 25 minutes)
A senior lead asks you to “sort out” the friction with a newer analyst. In a private word, she tells you why she’s gone quiet. Practice knowing when to stop mediating and escalate.

All people, companies and events are fictional.

• Watch three meters move: Trust for each person, and your Neutrality. Win one person over at the other’s expense and Neutrality drops
• Take a private caucus with each person when it helps
• Write the agreement, then follow up two weeks later

HOW IT WORKS

1. Download the ZIP from your Etsy purchases and unzip it.
2. Open the “01-App” folder and double-click Conflict-Management-Simulator.html. It opens in your web browser.
3. Start with the Briefing Room, or go straight to a scenario.

No install, account, subscription, hosting or internet connection needed. Works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on a computer, tablet or phone.

I designed the simulator, chose every scenario and HR approach, and directed, reviewed, edited and tested it before release. AI tools assisted with writing the code and drafting scenario, lesson and README wording.
