Backyard Birds of Michigan Poster Print, Identification Chart with Latin Names, Wall Art

Backyard Birds of Michigan is a chart of 16 birds you can see from a kitchen window in Michigan, laid out like a vintage field guide: each bird drawn in a matching style, with its common name and its scientific name in italics. It includes the Michigan state bird, the American Robin.

THE 16 BIRDS
Black-capped Chickadee (Poecile atricapillus), Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis), Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata), American Robin (Turdus migratorius), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris), White-breasted Nuthatch (Sitta carolinensis), Red-breasted Nuthatch (Sitta canadensis), Downy Woodpecker (Dryobates pubescens), Hairy Woodpecker (Dryobates villosus), American Goldfinch (Spinus tristis), House Finch (Haemorhous mexicanus), Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus), Dark-eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis), Rose-breasted Grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus), Baltimore Oriole (Icterus galbula), Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura).

A few are seasonal: the Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Rose-breasted Grosbeak and Baltimore Oriole are spring and summer visitors, and the Dark-eyed Junco is easiest to see at feeders in the colder months.

Before printing, we checked every species against eBird county records and range maps for Michigan. The illustrations are stylized, so for a tricky bird keep a field guide or the Merlin app handy.
