Offered here is a very cool Tim Beaumont aka Papa Bear’s Pipes Blowfish style handmade pipe that caught my attention right away. He has a great talent for shaping and incorporating exotic woods and materials such as the Musk Ox Horn shank cap. This piece was cut just last year.

This is my 4th from Tim and all have been impressive pipes. After the first one that was so impressive, I began actively searching for more from him.

This take on a Blowfish has a contrasting finish with a nice, dark sandblast on the rounded side panels and flanks, against a smooth finish all down the centerline showing off very nice cross-grain. In this shape, both sides bulge out rather than just one in a more traditional blowfish and he added some nice design elements to the shaping pipe the transition from the bowl to the shank which at an perspective, looks like a teardrop but from another aspect, changes to flaring angle. The asymmetrical shank shaping is very cool, all showing off his carving skills and then onto the first Musk Ox Horn use (that I’ve known of) done so smoothly it’s impressive.

It finishes in a beautifully colored dark green vulcanite Cumberland stem with a gentle curve to it. I personally love this color Cumberland aka Brindle and don’t see it often enough.

The pipe has been designed with a bit of a narrow dimension to it which not only adds to the artisanal shaping, but it feels really nice in hand and I bet would disappear in a pocket very nicely because of this. (though it’s not a Nosewarmer or pocket pipe by size. The chamber is a very decent size that can allow for a long smoke too. It’s not a 15 minute smoker.

The chamber is in excellent shape, super clean and no issues whatsoever, appearing lightly smoked. The only blemish (use signs) I see to the pipe is some small darkening at the back of the rim and very thin notes around it in spots though it blends in so well, I don’t notice until in good light and looking for it. Tim is a great carver out of Ohio and I look forward to seeing more from him. I love this shape and the green Cumberland stem a lot. - Pete

Review all photos and dimensions carefully prior to purchasing. I take pride in my pipes and all are ready to smoke. - P

At a minimum, I do everything possible to make sure the pipe is at its best and packaged well. All pipes are carefully inspected, cleaned, gently buffed, waxed with Carnauba and the stems are hand polished and oiled as needed. For a decade, I’ve put all I have into these pipes, packaging and more. I really enjoy it and my fellow hobbyists.
