Description

Beautiful, professionally printed greeting card featuring a reproduction of my painting 'The Enchanted Captive of the Venus Grotto'. A thumbnail and painting title is on the reverse.

'The Enchanted Captive of the Venus Grotto', original painting, was part of a series of paintings based around the fantastical life of King Ludwig II of Bavaria who was most famous for being mad (I like to think he was misunderstood!) and for building the fairytale Neuschwanstein castle in Bavaria. In these series of paintings I linked his mania for building these fantastical palaces with his ornithological interest. This painting explored Ludwig's love for Wagner's operas, such as Tannhäuser. This proved to be the main inspiration behind the construction of the Venus Grotto; a man-made cave built in the grounds of Linderhof palace, complete with theatrical stage lighting, a wave machine and a small boat shaped like a shell. The original painting was completed using UV paint which carries on the theatrical theme behind the picture.

A5 in size, blank for your own message and comes with a white envelope packed altogether in a cello bag.

The print quality and card stock is of very good quality.
