This 1955 softcover book was produced by the Montana School of Mines in order to answer common questions of "practical prospectors and miners."

It is "intended as a general guide. Its small size makes it convenient for use in the field or on the job. If it helps prospectors and mine operators to find and produce ore, it will have served its purpose."

"Practical Guide for Prospectors and Small-Mine Operators in Montana/Miscellaneous Contribution No. 13" was written by Koehler S. Stout. Printed by McKee Printing of Butte, MT.

****NOTE:****The front matter seems to have been bound incorrectly. The index pages 5 and 6 are reversed.

Placer mining
Types of placer mining
Minerals associated with placer gold

Separating gold
and more

105 pages plus appendices which include photos, diagrams and charts. 7-1/2" x 5-1/4"
