Handmade item

In 1963, France sent the first cat into space, Félicette. Her mission was a success, and she is the inspiration behind our own little space cat explorer.

We all need a little more fun and flair in our lives, don’t you think? Let’s spice up that denim jacket, canvas tote or ball cap. Time to up your #pingame with Felicette®!

MAKER NOTES
This pin is approximately 1 1/8" x 7/8". It is made of Cloisonné hard enamel and gold-plated. Pin comes with two rubber clasps to keep it safely secured to the lucky jacket, bag or [um, insert item here] that you so choose to attach it to. For an even more secure hold see my locking pin back.

It’ll land delightfully packaged on a printed card with gold foil accents. Get your heart eyes ready!

The original Félicette, and inspiration for my name, was the first cat in space. On October 18, 1963, France launched Félicette aboard Veronique AGI sounding rocket No. 47. Félicette was recovered alive after a 15 minute flight and a descent by parachute. Félicette had electrodes implanted into her brain, and the recorded neural impulses were transmitted back to Earth.

Her mission was a success and she had made a valuable contribution to scientific research. Once home she she was kept at the CERMA laboratories but unfortunately, a few months later they put her to sleep so that the electrodes that had been implanted in her brain could be studied. Even though she had a short life scientists were able to thoroughly analyze her reactions and use a very delicate neuro-physiological technique, that so far had only been achieved in laboratories.

FAQs

using your stamp

To use your stamp, ink thoroughly and evenly, then press it gently but firmly to the paper. If the stamp is larger than the ink pad lay the stamp onto a flat surface and gently tap the ink pad repeatedly over the surface of the rubber stamp. If the stamp is smaller than the ink pad gently tap the stamp onto the ink pad.

caring for your stamp

For best results, clean your rubber stamp after each use, so the old ink won't unexpectedly appear on future projects. Remove excess ink by stamping on scrap paper or a damp paper towel. Never soak your stamp in water, it can loosen the adhesive that keeps the rubber attached to the backing.
