Description

If you have a Meadowgate Leather Traveller's Journal Cover (or indeed one from elsewhere perhaps?), at some point you may either want to replace a worn out elastic or just replace the elastics with a different colour.

This item is for the supply, in one length, so you can cut it how you want. I will send you approx 1.5 metres / 1.5 yards of round elastic cord of the colour you request. It will be enough to fully replace both the 4x suspension cords and the closure elastic on the biggest cover I supply (the A5 Xtreme), so if you have a smaller one, like the Pocket, there may be enough supplied to do it twice over!

The cord will be the exact sort I use in the production of the Journal Covers, which is now all 2mm diameter.

I am unable to accept returns or refunds on bespoke or custom made goods unless I have misrepresented an item or it is faulty. Please ask any questions you have prior to purchase to ensure it will meet your needs.

The customer is responsible for paying the return postage and ensuring it's safe delivery. Any returned goods must arrive in 'unused' condition and the buyer is responsible for this and cost of postage.

IF returning an item FROM OUTSIDE the UK, please mark the package 'RETURNED GOODS' so that it does not attract Import Customs Duty. The Customer is responsible for makring the package thus and any package not marked and hence charged duty will have this amount subtracted from any refund.

Shipping policies

I am based in Essex on the East coast of England and use our (surprisingly) efficient Royal Mail to post items. Within the UK, the Royal Mail will handle everything, however, posting to International addresses will mean final delivery will be via your own postal service. International orders will be shipped with the relevant customs forms - buyers are responsible for any import duty / charges your customs / border agencies may make.

As standard, within the UK, I post Royal Mail First Class so your item should be with you within a day or two. Some items may require a signature on delivery.

Internationally, I post Airmail which should take about 3 days to Western Europe, 5 days to Eastern Europe and major cities around the world. Everywhere should receive the item with about 7 days. These estimates are however just that, estimates, and even though I have posted the parcel on time, the delivery date can be affected by adverse weather etc, so please allow extra time for postal delays, and of course customs. Larger items are tracked so you and I will be able to check on the progress of the delivery.

Where more than one item has been purchased, the postage value of the larger item takes precedence: ie. when purchasing a card of thread, I will gladly combine with up to five cards total of similar thread for the same postage. However, purchasing a thread card along with a much heavier item will attract the higher postage rate. I'm sure that is common sense to everybody, but thought it ought to be here just in case. However, the checkout system does not always see it this way, so in the event of a shortfall, I will contact you to discuss the situation.

If 21 days have expired since receiving dispatch notification and you have still not received your parcel, please contact me and we will endeavour to resolve the situation.

Be aware that I will dispatch to your Etsy registered address, so please ensure it displays all the correct details.

Ready-to-ship items will be posted within 1-2 business days.
Made-to-order and Custom orders will ship as soon as they are ready, shipping estimates will be shown on the order, but in reality, I usually better these.

A little more on hand-stitching: practically wherever an item produced by me is sewn, it is done by using the saddle-stitch. This is a two-needle process which produces an incredibly strong stitch, as each stitch makes a knot inside the stitch-hole. It means that the row of stitches will stay together, even if something cuts through the thread. A factory-made item will have been machine-sewn, which makes the sewing much weaker as any cut will cause the sewing to unravel. Saddle-stitching will not unravel. I use 'Tiger thread' which is reputedly the best in the world! It is strong, resilient and available in many colours. I try to use thread sizes and colours which compliment each item.
Leather is a natural product, and as such, should be expected to have variations and imperfections within it. Whilst only the finest quality leathers are sourced, we cannot be held responsible for any losses due to any problems with the leather itself, including dye loss, staining, marking of other items, etc.
