Blood orange coloring sets the Malaya garnet apart from others. Ranging from blood red-pink to bright Sunkist orange, it is an interesting stone to work with. I personally find it prettier than spessartite, but that's just me.

Malaya is a mongrel garnet: part grossular, pyrope, almandine and spessartite. (Most garnets aren't 100% one type BTW)
Some gemologists have already labeled it part of a garnet group called pyralspite to convey that it is basically a cross between pyrope, almandine and spessartite.

For gem collectors and connoisseurs, the main audience by far for Malaya, the beautiful color of this garnet has earned it full respectability. Its found in east Africa, in the Umba River valley bordering Tanzania and Kenya.

This listing is for a set of TWO 2.5mm calibrated orange tinged with red Malaya garnet round gemstone for setting.
