Description

Earrings: Shield-Shaped Iridescent Brown/Gray Shell Pendants, Abalone Rectangles, Shell Heishi, Peach Luster Seed Beads, and Sterling Silver Hoop Ear Wires

Condition: New and Unused

Measurements: the earrings are approximately 2 1/2" long (6.35 cm); the shell shields are about 7/8" at their widest point (2.22 cm)

There is something so fascinating about the iridescence of certain shells, such as those I used here: shield-shaped shell pendants that are a grayish brown with waves of iridescent pink and green playing across their surfaces. The shields have a bold geometric shape unlike the natural shapes of shells, so I decided to soften their look by stringing together--in a rather freeform manner--cascades of shell heishi and abalone rectangles using peach luster seed beads.* The bits of shell and abalone seem to have grown organically on top of the shields, as if stuck in the branches of a growing coral. I chose simple sterling silver hoop earrings to display the shields so that they would hang freely just below the ear lobes.

*I used the same freeform branching technique to adorn an iridescent shell necklace with the same type of shell heishi embellishment (listed separately as "2-Strand Peach Pearl Mix with Black Lip Shell Gorget"). Although I didn't make these earrings specifically to match that necklace, they are very close in color and could be worn as a set.

FAQs

Handmade jewelry should be treated gently: do not shower or go swimming while wearing; polish with a soft damp cloth or a silver-polishing cloth; keep in a cool, dry place such as a soft bag or lined box; do not hang necklaces or bracelets--their weight can cause stringing materials to stretch or connecting rings to pull open. If damage does occur, please contact me to discuss repair or replacement.
Please treat temari with respect. Have clean hands when touching them, keep them out of direct sunlight, and display or store them in a dust-free area (or dust off gently as needed). If temari get wet, colors may run; do not scrub threads as they may break. If necessary, please contact me to discuss repair or replacement.
If components of my jewelry have broken due to a flaw in the components or in my construction, I will be happy to make repairs at no charge to you (including return shipping), assuming that I still have the same components available. If they are not available, I will contact you to discuss options for the repair.
For all other reasons for repair, I still will be happy to do whatever I can, usually for a small fee, and assuming that I have the materials required. Buyer is responsible for cost of repair, shipping, and insurance charges.
As for temari, minor thread replacement may be possible depending upon design, location, and availability of thread. Buyer is responsible for cost of repair, shipping, and insurance charges.
