Description

TAKEMOTO and Olive wood

By now in 2016, I am still the only designer and craftsman making glasses frames with olive wood, as no one else understand the fragility of olive wood better than me. In 2012, I first got to know olive wood. (I only know olive before that. Actually when I was in primary school, I can buy pickled olives from the shop near our school.) It reminded me of childhood memories when I first took a close look at olive wood, and was fascinated by its beautiful texture. Every piece of olive wood is unique. As a Chinese, I understand the importance of rosewood, such as yellow rosewood, green rosewood etc. in Chinese culture. Before long, I learnt the symbolic significance of olive wood in European culture. It’s just like maple to Canada, and spruce to the USA. Olive tree, olive oil and olive wood are of profound cultural importance for Europe.

***A letter to my customers:***

hi:

I am TAKEMOTO Huang.

I have realized that a growing number of people are purchasing bulk produced hand-made glasses and sell them at ETSY. Actually they are not participants in the industry of glass. They are not involved in the design, marketing, or research of glass. Without shedding any sweat or hurting their hand, they are nothing but middlemen. However, many of them even claim themselves as designers or producers by pirating the pictures from others. I make around 1,000 pairs of glasses every year for this world. I design them, improve the materials, and even develop new materials. Through a long time of research, I managed to correct many mistakes. Gradually I find my works mature enough and are favored by the customers. I would answer all of your questions in person including those concerning optics. That’s why I’m eager to improve my English. I mount the lens and pack the parcels all by myself. Sometimes I even drive to the international shipping agent in order to guarantee that you can receive your glass one day earlier. There are about 50 working procedures for each pair of glass. I manage to finish them all by myself.

I really appreciate it if you can spare me a few minutes and read the following instructions, which will save me a lot of work. Hopefully, it will help you with some of your concerns and avoid some mistakes.

1. Life free maintenance. Many of you may worry that the glass frames made of bamboo or wood would easily break. I guarantee you that after special treatment they are strong enough unless being hit by strong external force. In case there’s a fracture of the glass (not caused by mounting of lens), free maintenance service is offered. You can also get a replacement or renovation, but you will have to pay for the freight.

2.About laser:

In fact, there are not many people can install the lens to the wood or bamboo glasses in the world.the doctors and the optical shops often break my works.if they broke it,You will need to pay half the cost to get a new one, instead of for free. this is a very friendly support.so,the best way is let me do it.
*If the prescription lenses is wrong, I will pay all fees change right.if the prescription was wrong, please pay the fees.

7.Because there will not be any two pieces of wood or bamboo being the same, and they are handmade, so, no glasses will be the same, please do not say 'I don't like the texture of the wood'. and,There are many different kinds of 'brown'.,or "red",and "blue",If the glasses frames are coloured, please don't say 'this is not the brown that I want' .

Seriously talented artist. This guy can craft some high quality, lightweight, unique frames. I could not be happier. Listen, his English skills are lacking. He may come off as short or rude in conversation, but don’t let that fool you. Takemoto is a big ol’ sweetheart and will go above and beyond to make you a happy customer. Westerners speak with frills and color while it is a whole ‘nother story where he is from. Conversational English is extremely difficult to learn. Give the guy a chance and keep trying if he doesn’t understand whatever it is you are saying/asking. His English may not be full of frills or color, but his artistry is truly one-of-a-kind, with all the bells and whistles. I am in love with my new glasses and I will be coming back for more in the future.

I want to state that I am extremely pleased with my hand made frames. When I received them, opened the wooden box and placed them on my face, I could feel the positive energy, the love and passion put into making them. Thank you so much.

21 years of eyewear story about TAEMOTO

Mr Takemoto was born into a common farmers' family. He has developed passion for Chinese painting, literature, and handcraft since his early childhood, while his experience of exercising all kinds of farm work has equipped him with endurance and stamina. Also, he had been an excellent student. In 1995, Mr Takemoto got involved with glasses industry by creating posters for a glasses company. Later, Mr Takemoto started making marketing strategies for this company. Meanwhile, he studied professional knowledge and grew from merely a repairer to a salesperson, an optic lens processing technician, to an optician (qualification obtained in 2003), and then a manager. In 2002, Mr Takemoto started his own glasses retailer business, which later developed into a trading company. The electronic business of the company began in 2004 and the sales has been good. In 2008, Mr Takemoto registered his company in Hong Kong and started international retailer business. In the summer of 2009, Mr Takemoto designed and made his first pair of glasses with wooden frame, finally turning his passion into original work. He has been one of the best leader and innovator ever since. In 2010, Mr Takemoto's Etsy shop became the first one selling glasses with wooden or bamboo frames; it turns out that his Etsy shop is not only the earliest, but also the best, as all glasses are 100% hand made by Mr Takemoto with his original design. Unlike some shops selling manufactured product while boasting their originality, Mr Takemoto and his work enjoy good reputation. More significantly, for three times, Mr Takemoto participated in the top exhibition for glasses held in Paris and Milan bearing his own expenses, and thus became the first Chinese glasses designer and maker known by the international community. He has proven to the world that Chinese designer and craftsmen can also rank among the best in the industry. For better devotion into handcraft, and due to some complicated reasons, in 2010, Mr Takemoto had to dismiss the trading team in China, and has stopped domestic business. Therefore, now, all the products you see are from one author: Mr Takemoto. Being alone but tough, Mr Takemoto is known by few in his own country, yet greatly supported by customers from across the Europe and America, and even some world-famous celebrities. If Mr Takemoto's glasses finally becomes the best handmade glasses brand, he'd sincerely thank every customer from the Western world.
