These antique advertising calendars are 100 years old, which I find truly remarkable. I imagine they were distributed in shops in the Chicago area, encouraging people to seek out Triner's Angelica Bitter Tonic and other remedies at their local pharmacy. The colors are rich and vivid and crisp, depicting scenes of the grape harvest, the ships and trains required to carry the produce to the United States, and the pharmacy production lab where the tonics were produced, with the Triner factory framed in the center. The monthly calendar pages at the bottom feature additional advertising for Triner products in both English and Czech on alternating months.

Joseph Triner was one of the most famous Czech Bohemians in the United States around the turn of the century. He founded the Joseph Triner Company in 1890 in Chicago, and they produced Triner's Medicinal Bitter Wine and many other purported remedies and preparations.

Each calendar measures 28 1/4” tall by 12 3/4” wide, and has a metal bar at the top with a ring that was used for hanging. The calendars are in fragile condition, with tears and large pieces missing from the edges. They are too fragile to hang as is, and will need to be framed or attached to a solid backing piece to be hung. The paper calendars at the bottom are still attached and in good shape. One calendar starts with January 1916, and the other starts with February 1916. They are in very similar condition; please specify if you have a preference in the 'Notes to seller' or I will choose one for you. You are purchasing one calendar.

This will be sent in a flat cardboard mailer. I am happy to ship internationally - please convo me for a quote if your country is not listed.
