Bob's Fast Feet is a Story based on true events that my father told me about! It takes place in the early years of the 20th century when horses pulled fire engines. It tells about an heroic firehouse horse and the special bond he has with a little boy and the fireman's dog, Spot. The crafting of this tale meant a lot to me; the fireman, and the photo of him, is of my own grandfather, and the photo of the little boy is of my father and his dog. Here is an excerpt:

"Don't get in the way, don't get in the way, don't get in the way, of Bob's fast feet! Those feet are strong, shoes of iron, striking sparks on cobblestones! Those feet are fearless, rushing to fires, winter and summer, through ice, through rain, through summer's hot sun, saving lives, stopping fires!"

This homemade booklet is 8 and a half by 11, seven pages in length, with an additional page of photos, including a copy of a newspaper clipping picturing the Real Bob, the horse, and his animal-partner, Jake. (Yes, these horses really did live!) The booklet is put together with plastic protective sleeves, vintage ribbon, and decorated with a Tibetan silver horse charm.

Happy Reading!
