About Reconstructed amber

All products are hand-made of 100% Baltic amber - an organic substance-fossil resin that was produced under natural conditions at least 40-45 million years ago.Amber contains succinic acid, this has been proven to have a positive effect on the immune system. The warmth of the skin on the amber encourages the release of this natural analgesic.
The difference between solid and pressed (Reconstructed) beads is number of stones used to achieve greater bead size. Technology is used to minimize production cost as solid Baltic amber is getting very expensive. Manufacture process combines small amber pieces in order to make on large. Stones are chosen by color, quality, size and shape then are bonded together under high pressure without any additives (no chemicals, glue, synthetics are used at any production stage). Production line does not make it round, beads still have to be hand cut, formed to mainly round beads same as ordinary ones. Pressed amber has same qualities as solid one, smell when rubbed, floats in salty water. However under visual examination bonding patterns (trails) can be seen.

How to use your necklace:

Wear under clothing and with direct contact to the skin. Wash in warm water, no detergent. We suggest that you only use the necklace during the day, and remove at night and for unsupervised naps. Do not let your child chew on the necklace, it is short enough to make this tricky. But the resin may chip if this happens. Always supervise your child when wearing. Do not place in a sock near the child when sleeping , amber only works in direct contact with the skin. Take the necklace / anklet bracelet off from around your child's neck when they are sleeping or unsupervised. Keep the bracelet/anklet clean by simply washing it in soapy water, do not use any chemicals.
According to EU Toy safety regulations EN-71-1 it is not a toy (not suitable for children under 36 months). Due to the small parts involved, we recommend it be worn by children 3 years and over with full supervision by a parent or guardian.

Tests for identifying Real Amber from Fake.

Salt Water test

The other effective test for identifying real Amber from fake is Salt Water test. In order to do this test you will need about 7 teaspoons of salt and a medium size cup of water. Add all teaspoons of salt into the water and stir well until salt is fully melted. In the next step add your Amber gemstone into this water. Real Amber should float in this water easily while majority of fakes will sink fast. The main drawback of this method is that it is not very suitable for testing Jewelry that has some metal or other components in it; however it works well for loose beads.

Hot Needle test

One more way to differentiate genuine Amber from fake is Hot Needle test. To perform this test you need to heat the needle and then push it against the stone. In case the needle went in only slightly or some cracks were left it means that it is most likely real Amber. Also if it is genuine Amber you should also notice a smell similar old punged tree. When doing the same test with fakes the needle goes in very easily and the smell is either plastic or fresh pine (Copal). The main disadvantage of this test is that it might leave a small mark, which is caused by burning.
