Description

This is a great all purpose dress from the 1940's/50's.

You could easily wear it to the office and then jazz it up a bit for a dinner or drink after work. That's probably what the designer had in mind...versatility, for the budget conscious gal.

It was also for the fashion conscious gal, because this is a great classic style.
The bodice is a chantilly lace that comes down below the bust and becomes the plain rayon/ linen blend that completes the dress. It is a very flattering style. There are buttons all the way down the front, and the skirt is pleated to give it fullness in the front. The skirt is cut so that it angles out from the waist down.
The short sleeves end in plain fabric cuffs, and there is a lovely plain fabric finish around the neckline.
There are belt loops, but no belt.
There is a small area of lace repair on the front left side that I couldn't notice until I looked at the lace very carefully. It is right at the seam line and blends right in. Aside from that it is in great wearable condition.

The measurements are:
shoulder to shoulder: the sleeve is part of the bodice as in the style of the day.
Bust: 42
waist: 34
full skirt
measured flat.
waist to hem: 30 inches
shoulder to waist: 19 inches.

No labels, but very nicely made.

What goes around, comes around.
Love of quality and beauty from the past is happiness.
