Description

** See SPECIAL SHIPPING NOTE below **

Hailing from the 1970s and still in great vintage condition is this shiny copper and brass 5-piece coffee / tea serving set — made in the U.S.A. by Coppercraft Guild — that includes a Turkish / Greek style wooden handle on the lidded coffee pot, cream and sugar containers, serving tray and the set's original use/care pamphlet!

Printed faintly on the bottom of each piece (excluding the coffee pot lid) is the Coppercraft hallmark of the words “Coppercraft Guild ® / Taunton, Mass” encircling a line drawing of a spinning wheel. I did not clean/polish this set, so the small tarnish spots seen here and there may very well polish out.

Here are the details about this striking one-owner set:

* The coffee pot featuring a very sturdy Turkish/Greek style wooden handle stands just over 7” tall to the top of the lid’s brass finial; 5.8750” tall without the lid. The pot’s top opening is 2.5” diameter, while the flared base is 4.5” diameter. The handle extends 4.75” from the pot, and the spout is about 5” long. The pot has some light scratches typical of age and use, as well as one tiny tarnish speck. The lid has a handful of small dents (likely from poor storage). The interior is clean.

*The sugar bowl – decorated with two stylishly “loopy” brass handles – stands 2.25” tall to its 2” diameter top opening and 2.8750” tall to the handle tops. It measures 5” wide from the outside handle edges, and has a 3.25” diameter base. There are no dings or tarnish on this piece — just some light scratches typical of age and use. The interior is clean.

*The cream pitcher stands 2.25” tall to its 2” diameter top opening and 2.8750” tall to top of its curvy brass handle. It measures 4.75” wide from the outside handle edge to the spout tip, and has a 3.25” diameter base. There is no tarnish on this piece, but it does have some light scratching, a tiny ding on one side and a small dent near the top edge on the opposite side. The interior is clean.

* The sturdy 12.25” diameter serving tray features an eye-catching swirly brushed pattern encircled by a .75” wide un-embellished raised lip. The tray is free of dings/dents, but has the typical light use-related scratches, as well as a number of tarnish spots on the top side that I believe would polish out, if desired. The underside has scratches even more tarnish than the top.

* Also included is the set’s small original fold-out paper pamphlet whose cover reads, “Thank you for bringing me into your home / My traditional styling and lustrous copper beauty is yours to enjoy forever.” Inside are details from Coppercraft Guild about their products’ use, care and workmanship.

According to a Wikipedia article, Coppercraft Guild was launched in Taunton, Mass., in 1973 as a subsidiary company of Tandy Corp. (now RadioShack). The firm’s solid copper knick-knacks and housewares were marketed via a part-time sales force of housewives selling the products from their homes — like Tupperware parties.
