Description

Sip your fave from this set of two Raku wine glasses! Blue, green & copper hues against a velvet black glaze- these incredible, one-of-a-kind glasses are sure to light up your dinner party. Unlike the traditional Raku technique, whereby red-hot pottery is placed into a can of combustables, these glasses get their kiss of color from a blast of the blow torch!! *SEE THE VIDEO!! Each base is a hollow, wheel-thrown form, allowed to dry, then dipped into a unique raku glaze and fired to cone 04 (1800 deg.F). After cooling completely, each piece is individually “torched” before cooling a second time. The goblet portion is added with the help of a glass cutter and strong epoxy. These sturdy, functional pieces will bring years of enjoyment. I have even found them to be an excellent conversation starter!

Part of the beauty of hand made work it that each piece truly is one-of-a-kind. I do not use molds, but weigh the clay prior to throwing to help ensure like sizes. Yet, due to its homemade nature, there may be a trivial difference in height and width of stem. Expect slight variances in the glaze. Each goblet is approximately 8.5 to 9.25 inches in height and hold 8 oz of liquid. I recommend hand-washing.
