Description

Moldavite is believed to have formed 14.7 million years ago when a meteorite collided with Earth. It is found only in Central Europe, and comes almost exclusively from one location in the Czech Republic. These pendants were made using the copper electroforming technique.

Pendants come on either a 24 inch claspless copper chain, or an adjustable-length, waxed, black cotton cord (whichever is shown in the pictures). Other chain lengths and styles, and clasps are available upon request. Please contact me if you'd like a different chain or clasp. I do charge a small fee for changes.

::About Sacred Cloud Gifts' electroformed jewelry::
I seek to create jewelry pieces of simple design that let the natural beauty of the stones be the focal point. I enjoy spending long hours sorting through crystals to find the most beautiful and unique specimens for the jewelry I make. The magic of copper electroforming is that you can securely set a crystal or stone that is 100% natural. It does not require the crystal to be cut or shaped in any way, allowing it to remain just as the Earth made it. I utilize a technique that creates thick layers of copper around the stone—creating a setting for the crystal without relying on glues or epoxies to keep it secure.

::A note about the finish on copper jewelry::
Over time, the finish on your copper jewelry will change. Copper reacts with the oxygen in the air, and is affected by contact with the body. You may find that the patina on your copper jewelry deepens with age, giving it a more pronounced “antique” look. Or you might notice that the patina has faded away by contact with skin, giving the copper a brighter appearance. If you would like to prolong the life of the original finish on your copper jewelry pieces, especially copper chains, please avoid exposing them to excess sweat and moisture, as well as products such as lotions, oils, and hairspray. Storing jewelry in an airtight container such as a plastic zip bag can help prevent tarnishing. (Some jewelers use coatings of wax or lacquer in an attempt to seal the copper and stop the finish from changing. I personally have found these methods to be ineffective, or to eventually peel away, leaving ugly residue behind. Additionally, many people believe that copper has health benefits and desire to have direct contact with the copper.)
