Description

The hand of Fatima, also known as Hamsa, is a powerful symbol associated with the feminine which has been worn as a protective amulet since ancient times. In these sterling silver handmade earrings Australian boulder opals in a stunning shade of cobalt blue adorn hands of Fatima with exotic wave design in relief. Opals have been bezel set in sterling silver. Total earring length is 1 1/2"; the hand amulet is 7/8" in length. Sterling silver lever back ear wires keep these earrings secure when worn and give these earrings a vintage feel. I am happy to switch out the ear wires to sterling silver sheppard's hook if desired at no extra charge.

Hand of Fatima History: Associated with Muslim and Jewish cultures The Hand of Fatima (also Hamsa) is a sign of protection that also represents blessings, power and strength, and is seen as potent in deflecting the evil eye (a curse). Since the time of ancient Phoenicians the Hand of Fatima has been worn as an amulet and also used in art to decorate homes for its power in deflecting bad luck. Some version on this design has been found across the Middle East and North Africa since 4500 B.C. The Hand of Fatima is now transcending its origins to become a symbol of peace in war-torn Middle East. Many Jews and Arabs wear the Hand of Fatima to demonstrate the common ground shared by them and the common source from which their religions spring. No longer just a talisman, the Hand of Fatima has instead become a symbol of hope and peace in the modern world.

Shipping policies

Shipping within the United States:
For items selling for $99 or less I will send them in a padded envelope First Class Mail with tracking. Cost of shipping is listed for each item. If you would like insurance let me know, and I will provide a reserve listing. To give you an idea of the cost, insurance for a $100 item is about $3. I would also be happy to send items under $99 via USPS Priority Mail which is about $7. Again, I would provide a reserve listing should you request this shipment method.

For items selling for $100 or more I will send them USPS Priority Mail with tracking which costs about $7 for the smallest box. That size box should be fine for one to three items. If you would like insurance let me know, and I will provide a reserve listing. But to give you an idea of the cost, insurance for a $100 item is about $3. FYI, USPS Priority Mail takes about two to three days on average.

International Shipping
For International Shipping, I can ship first class with no tracking, no insurance, no guaranteed delivery time if you are okay with that. All customs charges must be paid by customer at time of receipt. I assume no responsibility for receipt of merchandise once it leaves my hands at the post office. I do not offer first class shipping to Mexico at this time.

Another option is International Priority at $12.95 to most countries for small, fixed rate box one to three items. Delivery is between 6-10 days and same custom fees must be paid, if any, by recipient. International Priority is $10.95 to Canada and UK. The only way to insure for exact value is Registered Mail and the cost is substantial.
