Description

A skull-shaped silver bell with a hematite bead as the clapper.

* price is per each handmade bell
* cast in tarnish-resistant Sterling silver
* hematite bead as the clapper
* Large bell is 1" tall
* Small bell is 3/4" tall
* comes in a padded chocolate-brown box stamped with our logo in silver -- easy to wrap if you're giving a gift.
* 100% recycled metal -- a sustainable choice
* cast in a solar-powered studio
* packaging is made in the USA out of recycled materials
* handmade -- lost-wax cast in our home studio in Missouri
* part of our Mithros Designs product line -- vintage handcraft workmanship, eco-friendly values, and a commitment to quality, wearable, myth-inspired jewelry made with integrity

Andross was inspired to make these bells for his ancestor work, and now we've made them available to purchase as well. Hematite was chosen for the clapper because of its hardness, durability, association with ancestor work, red "streak", and resonance with the iron in our blood.

Numerous cultures revere their ancestors and the deities overseeing the beloved dead, and have spiritual practices preparing the self for the final Mystery that we all one day must face. Our bells are beautiful as a simple statement piece, as a memento mori, or as a dedicated ritual or devotional tool.

Perfect for wearing as a necklace, stringing on an anklet or bracelet for dancing, or attaching to a ritual rattle, drum, or wand.

The larger bell doesn't seem *that* much larger to look at it, but the difference in sound is tremendous, simply because of the physics of the size of the sounding chamber of the bell. The larger bell has a lovely, much brighter, more ringing sound. The smaller bell is more of a metallic rattle.

If you like this, you'll love some of our other pieces! http://www.etsy.com/shop/OdysseyCraftworks
